Smooth; light gray when young, darkening with age.

In general, 15-20 gallons per week for the first 2 years; 15-20 gallons twice a month for the 3rd year; as needed after 3 years (varies by soil, sun, and wind conditions).
- Tree Care:
Moderate/High. Early pruning necessary to achieve desired shape. Pruning less necessary after tree matures.
- Tolerance:
Tolerates some shade, low water, and any soil, but does not tolerate wind.
- Special Considerations:
Chlorosis develops in high pH soil. Recommended for areas larger than sidewalk.
- Notable Traits:
Hybrid cultivar; very popular in US, Australia, and New Zealand. More tolerant of short drought than other maples, but should be regularly watered. Fall color lasts longer than that of other maples.
