Low. Early light pruning and staking to establish upright central leader. Water and keep staked and protected during first 5-10 years. Minimal pruning needed once properly trained. Keep lower branches on as long as possible for fastest growth.

Susceptible to verticillium wilt, oak root fungus, spider mites, and mistletoe. Does best in areas with more pronounced seasons, but does well in San Francisco.
