During the school year and summer, individuals looking to enter the environmental field can gain valuable experience and develop new skills as interns with Friends of the Urban Forest. Interns work closely with our staff, commit to a regular schedule for a set period of time, and work on projects that best suit their skills.

About Friends of the Urban Forest
Friends of the Urban Forest helps individuals and neighborhood groups plant and care for street trees and sidewalk gardens in San Francisco. This “green infrastructure” improves the city by beautifying neighborhoods, cleaning the air, and reducing polluted stormwater runoff. Since 1981, FUF has planted more than 60,000 trees, totaling 50% of San Francisco’s street tree canopy. Thanks to grants and donations, FUF is able to subsidize 100% of the costs for a tree planting with the goal of making street tree plantings accessible to all the city’s residents.
