Here are some of the other ways in which you can support San Francisco’s urban forest:
Donate used goods to Community Thrift
The non-profit Community Thrift store (623 Valencia Street, San Francisco, tel. 415-861-4910) contributes a percentage of sales to non-profit organizations. When you donate used clothing, housewares and other items to the store, you can specify that Friends of the Urban Forest should benefit from those sales (we’re “account #241”).
Become a Basementeer
Sports Basement shoppers who join the “Basementeer” program and select Friends of the Urban Forest as their beneficiary will receive 10% off their purchases, and 10% of the profits will be donated to FUF.
Shop at AmazonSmile
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support FUF every time you shop, at no cost to you. To shop at AmazonSmile, simply go to smile.amazon.com. You’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection, and convenient shopping experience as amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to us. Just make sure you choose FUF on your first visit.
Donate a Vehicle
When you donate your old car, truck, or other unwanted vehicles, Friends of the Urban Forest benefits, and you qualify for a tax deduction. The Vehicle Donation Processing Center will pick it up whether it’s running or not, and handle all the paperwork.
Dine out at Wildseed Restaurant
At Wildseed, they believe that forks are an important tool to fight climate change and support the community. That’s why they are committed to creating a menu that leaves a small carbon footprint and makes a difference in the lives of local farmers. FUF receives 10 cents on every check to help displace their carbon footprint, clean the air, and reduce global warming. Visit them in Cow Hollow at 2000 Union St!
